Gala dinner entertainment in Singapore works best when it is sequenced, not scattered. A strong evening has an opening moment as guests take their seats, one or two segments between courses that lift the energy without competing with the speeches or the awards, and a closing act guests remember on the way out. We plan those moments around your programme, book the acts and keep them on cue.
Price: large galas may need SGD 10,000 to 20,000 or more for the entertainment, and a full production with a band, dancers, an emcee and staging usually costs SGD 8,000 to 15,000 or more. Venue, food and AV are quoted separately. See what gala and event entertainment costs.
The shape of a gala evening
Arrival and cocktails. A live band or a jazz group plays music guests can talk over, and a close-up magician works the room. This is the hour for interactive acts, because guests are standing and mingling.
The opening. One visual moment as the doors close and guests sit down: a dance number, an aerial act where the ceiling allows it, or an LED segment in a dark ballroom. At a Chinese New Year gala, a lion dance opens the night.
Between courses. One or two short segments that break up the speeches. Keep them short and place them away from the key speeches, so the room is fresh for the chairman and for the awards.
Awards. The emcee carries this part. Walk up music and a clear order of winners keep it moving.
The finale and after party. A last high point, then the band or a DJ takes the room to the dance floor.
Fewer, better moments
Overloading the run sheet is the most common request we push back on. Six unrelated acts make a gala feel like a variety show rather than one evening. One excellent opening and one strong finale leave a bigger impression than many short acts squeezed between courses.
Speeches always run long. We build 10 to 15 minutes of float into the programme, so an entertainment segment is not cut on the night. We also check whether the room can take the stage size, the LED wall or the dance floor the concept needs before anyone signs for it.
Award nights and charity galas
An award night needs an emcee who can hold the pace across many names, and acts that sit before and after the awards, not in the middle of them. A charity gala adds an auction or a donation appeal, sponsor recognition and often a guest of honour. That adds 30 to 90 minutes to the run sheet and needs an emcee who is comfortable pacing an appeal. Sponsor slides and backdrops often need sign off from several people, so allow an extra week for approvals.
Planning time
Book eight to twelve weeks ahead for December year end galas and dates around Chinese New Year, when ballrooms, bands and troupes are booked first. Other dates usually need four to eight weeks. Do a technical run the same afternoon: sound checks and cue run throughs catch problems a paper run sheet never shows.
Send the date, the venue and the order of the evening through the quote form. For a company year end dinner with dancing, see dinner and dance entertainment.
